An awesome linen made bedding set for a king size bed, hand-embroidered and perfectly preserved over time.

The bedspread is made of a double layered linen cloth, sewed and decorated on the edges, with an alternate chain stitch.
Cloth and checkers stitches, unthreading and needle-stitches create the main decoration pattern that repeats all over the edges. Same on the pillow cases, adding initials of the bedding set owner in the center. Pillow cases are particularly valuable, especially for the decoration on the upper edge, with the opening, therefore they might have been created as decoration pillow cases rather than normal ones. The opening for the pillow has a series of mother of pearl original two-hole-buttons, typical of the time. The quality of the material and the fine embroidery may suggest that the bedding set comes from a southern Italian convent, still the bedding set has been found in the Marche region. Maybe it was made by a nun coming from the South and transferred to a Iesi convent or a noble southern Italian family moving to the Marche.
